We Want: Faux Fur

Fluffy faux fur coats are one of this winter’s surprising hits. Once a mainstay of thrift stores, they’re now being produced by serious designers, and though the results are beautiful, the prices are as unreal as the materials. Like this Saint Laurent one for $15,000. A little loopy. (FYI: You can still find a great one on a resale site. How cute is this, this, this, and this?)

We went hunting for appealing, yet more reasonably priced, alternatives, and found 17, from robe-esque long coats to cozy cropped styles. Many are on sale, and as a result, sizes may be limited.

• While still expensive, this is honestly a good deal for this brand. Max Mara Adorato Long Coat, $600. Size 6, 8, 10.

• A cute, cropped bomber. A Na-kd Teddy Bomber, $95. Size EU 32 to EU 44.

• Desperately want a reason to buy this one. Co A-Line Belted Long Coat in Faux Astrakhan, $449. Size XXS to XL.

• The colors and shape are kind of kooky ‘70s. Unreal Fur Rhapsody Coat, $319. Size XS to XL.

• Expect to see styles like this on the editors attending NYFW soon. Le:Apt Curly Coat, $400. One Size.

• An elevated way to wear the trend. Maje Double-Faced Coat, $501. Size S to XL.

• A cozy, weekend-appropriate style. Ba&sh Paros Jacket, $346.50. Size XS to L.

• A blazer-esque version. Velvet Raquel Jacket, $218. Size XS to XL (here is a similar one that goes up to 3XL).

• If you want to go the outrageous route. Kelly Obi Oversized Coat With Belt, $200. One Size.

• We like how the (removable) faux fur here is just an accent. Zara Faux Fur Collar Coat, $239. Size XS to 2XL.
